Scrap The Girls...

Have you checked out the Scrap the Girls Challenge Blog this month...its a doozy!!! The challenge has been set by Anne-Marie Cox (BinxCat) and although at first looks a little daunting it was loads of fun to have a go at...

So You Think You Can Scrap Round 3

WOW I made it to round 3 of the Scraptacular Competition...the Scrapeology this week was

-Use a piece of Patterned Paper as your background not cardstock

-Use mix of different types of Patterned Paper (not from the same story)

-ink edges of all Patterned Paper and Photos

-Use cluster of embellishments

-Use staples

-Use a 6x4 photo

"Double Trouble" is my take on the criteria...

I have used Basic Grey Scarlett Letter paper for the background, and a mix of Cherry Arte, Pink Paisley JB, Reminisce French Kitchen and Scenic Route Cape Town patterned papers.

I have inked all edges including the photo (something I never do) and I have used a Stampin' Up! leave stamp to create the little leave in the cluster. The maya road flourish has been altered with Opals and I have stapled my ruffled ribbon. The alphas are red vinyl thickers...

Mystical Scrapbooks Gladiators

This week over on Mystical Scrapbooks sees the last round of GLADIATORS...and the challengers got to challenge the gladiators...so the criteria that was set was as follows:

• -Inking lots
• -3 photos
• -5 colours no more no less
• -Doodling
• -Stitching
• -Only handmade embellishments

OMG!!! the only think I regularly do is the stitching the rest was way out of my comfort zone... anyway here is what I came up with...

I have inked all the edges of my patterned papers and obviously have the 3 phots (4x3), I have used the Cosmo Crickets Cogsmo paper range and cross-stitched the photos and handmade felt bracket in place ...the remainder of the embellishments are stamped images and handcut pattern paper...and the doodling (as limited as it is ...I soooooo don't doodle) is the frame around the edge of the layout ...I even included a little doodled heart.

1,2,3 Challenge

Here is my take on the 1-2-3 Challenge this month.

The Criteria is:

1. Use scallops on the LO
2. Use the colour TEAL!
3. Spots!

So I used the October Afternoon Country Fair papers as they are perfect...


I have used one of the diecut scallop strips from the range and it just happened to be in the polka dots..yay!
I have handcut the flowers and 3-d them to give a bit of dimension.

The photo is of Ashton pulling one of his silly faces while we were sitting in the car after swimming. I think this particular face is cute rather than silly but it is one of many in his collection. Can you spot what is missing from this layout?

Savvy Ad Challenge

Here is my take on Scrapbook Savvys Ad Challenge set by Kerryn .

The Advert we had to use as inspiration was lots of circles which I replaced with the stars...

I used Inque Boutique Star Stamps and also made my own embellishments Kell Style .

The photo is of my little super star Ashton at Evandale Marcket on the pony "Wendy" (not his aunt...LOL)

Did you spot the owl? As usual there is one featured on Ashton's layouts (we call him the Hoot)

Round 2...SYTYCS

So You Think You Can Scrap Round 2 already... and the criteria this week was ...

- A mixture of at least 3 patterned papers in various colours, patterns, brands and textures

- Ink (lots of it!)

- Journaling strips

- Everything a little off centre and generally weighted to one side

- Dimension

- One large photo

Here is my effort as most of my scrappy friends know this is very much not my style...I like coordination, I rarely ink, I use JBs and hidden journaling and I am symmetry girl liking everything centred and balanced...so this week was really challenging for me. I have used Hambly, Heidiswapp, and making Memories for my 3 patterned papers, Inked all the edges (even the photo), set it off to the left of the page and heavily weighed the embellishing to the left too. For the dimension I have created a flower cluster, layering paper flowers with a crocheted one. I altered the flower with a Stampin' Up! Polkadot background stamp...which I love...the flourishes are opaled in Black. Anyway ...holding thumbs I get through to round 3!

Monthly Sketch @ Savvy

Here is the monthly challenge set by Diane over on Scrapbook Savvy...


I have used really old 3bugs paper for the flowers and as they were the wrong tone of pink I have used Opals to create dimension on the layers. The glitter flowers are Sticker Cafe and the alphas are Making Memories.


It is fairly simple but tried to keep it monochromatic and unclutered so as not to take away from the photos.


The photos are of my gorgeous Eve's 2nd birthday party which was actually "Care bear" themed but we had a fantastic face painter Lisa and her butterfly fairy faces are devine...

So You Think You Can Scrap...

Round One of Scraptacular's "So You Think You Can Scrap" Competition...

The Criteria for this challenge was:

- Hand cutting of PP designs

- Edge Distressing

- Layering

- Use of 'white/negative' space

- Texture

- Non Standard size photos (eg not 4x6 or 5x7 or 6x8)

- Clustering

Papers I have used are Hambly transparency, Jenny Bowlin, Imagince, KI Memories lace cardstock.

Don't you just love the little calendar I made into a transparency.. it with a stamp that Melissa bought me as a gift as she knew I really loved it. So thanks Mel...I am already putting it to good use :)

Here is a close up of my cluster...

I have used Basic Grey Mellow patterened paper and cut out the flowers to created the 3-d floral spray and I embellished them with Kaiser pearls. I have also made a little red butterfly using Urban Lily stamps, stazon and transparency sheet. I hand stamped the leaves with some Stampin'Up! stamps and my title is done with raw buzz and bloom alphas inked and glossed with Opals. My distressing has been incorporated on the patterened paper and I have used the Stampin' Up! Spiral Punch to give the torn book page look.

So that is round 1 done...lets hope I make it through the other side of the elimination...you can check out everyone elses work in the Scraptacular Gallery.

I love my new stamps...

Over on Scrapbook Savvy Sarah's Random Challenge for September is to create your own patterened paper using stamps...could this challenge be more perfect for me?


I just received my new Stampin' Up! order with my Boho Backgrounds and my ditressed background roller stamp...yay.


Here is the layout I created all the patterned paper is stamped by me with the exception of the large hambly owl.


I used Chocolate Chip Ink and Kraft coloured Bazzill I also used my new Stampin' Up Sprial punch to create the torn spiral book look...
The photo is of Rob and Ashton doing what they usually do just prior to bed.

I also used the circles roller stamp to create the transparency and a hero arts owl stamp on the background peice of paper.

Mystical Sketch Challenge...

This month on Mystical Scrapbooks I set the monthly sketch challenge...it is due 30th September if you want to be in the running for the prize.

Here is the Sketch and my take on it...

I have used the Basic Grey Infuse papers that have been sitting around in my stash since they were released ...

Sad I know ...but I am on a mission to use some of my older stuff and am quite please with how it turned out.

Love the effect you get with layering the diecuts with 3d tape.

The photo is of Eve my gorgeous 2 1/2 year old who as the title says is a total GROT you can't keep her clean.

The sketch is designed to be a round one but I have included a 12x12 base as I found it hard to put in my album...yes I still put my layout in albums...and yes I have loads.
