Stuck! Sketches

Sara Noendeng, fellow DT member on Mystical, runs the Stuck! Blog ...and this is a take on one of her weekly sketches...#58

I have also used some of the DT Kit from Mystical Scrapbooks for this layout with the Black Market Papers.

The cupcake is handmade from felt and the Ribbon, JB and buttons were all out of the kit.

I love this photo of the 4 cousins blowing out the candles at Wendys 32 birthday.

And SHOCK !!!! I doodled again...this circle thing I think is going to be my only doodle ever...but have to say actually like how it looks...lol

Puzzle Sketches

I thought I would give the Puzzle Sketch Challenge a go this month so here is my effort with the elements...

I also combined this with the Stylist challenge over on the Scrapboutique...which asked you to use the quote...
"Enjoy the little things in life, because one day you will look back and realise they were the big things" on your layout...which was perfect for this photo...

So 2 challenges in one layout quite happy with myself really ...lol

Sketches! {by Tamara}

So for those of you who didn't know I made the DT on the Sketches! {by Tamara} blog...and here is my first ever Sketches! {by Tamara} layout.

It is for Sketch #65 over on her blog.

I used the MM paper on "Bubble Fun" and created a flower cluster with a large butterfly which I altered with Opals to match the little pearls...

So You Think You Can Scrap #5

Well it is into the finals and boy is it getting tough (well for me at least) this weeks Genre was FREESTYLE / ARTY...Eeek!!!The essential criteria on the page (which had to have a freestyle/arty feel to it) was as follows:

1. Page needs a Handmade/written Title

2. Page needs Paint

3. Page needs a Household/Thrift Item

4. Page needs a odd edge or shaped background

5. Page needs doodling

So here is what I came up with after my first dissasterous attempt of handpainted "tropical flowers" I tore that layout up and went with classic balck and white to counter the arty component which is not very me at all.

All the flowers are finger painted, by popping my fingertip into the paint and dabbing it onto the cardstock in a five petal design, then cutting them out...the white ones I then stamped with a script stamp to add a bit of interest. There is no patterned paper on this layout at all ...so it is all my own art (if you can call it that).

So lets do it by the numbers...

1. Page needs a Handmade/written Title - I have handdrawn the U and the R in black permanent pen and then stamped it with the same script stamp.
2. Page needs Paint - I have made all my flowers with black and white acrylic paint and my finger
3. Page needs a Household/Thrift Item - I have used my daughters clear elastic hair bands to pinch the ribbon in.
4. Page needs a odd edge or shaped background - I have used my flowery fiskars punch to create the black border strip.
5. Page needs doodling - I have created a lot of random circles to frame the photo.

So I have covered off the criteria and this is about as arty as I get I am afraid...

Mystical Scrapbooks UYS Challenge

This month it was my turn to set the Use Your Stash Challenge over at Mystical Scrapbooks.

I choose to do ROBOTS...there has been a real fad on them lately and I would say most of us that have boys would have at least one of the paper ranges (if not all, stamp sets, embellies) so it is the perfect opportunity to use them and possibly earn yourself some "coins" in the process.

For "dough face" I have used the Cogsmo paper range and also a handmade robot I recieved in a swap earlier this year from Rachel Schryver. The large bracket is handcut from felt...

White With 1...

The new White with 1 challenge has been posted and I must say the girls inspiration layouts are fanatstic. This months criteria is:


White
Orange
Stamping



Hmmm I hear you say ... but really it is worth checking it out... I even did a layout this month and love it. Orange is not usually my colour but well there you go...

For "Wherever you go" I have used my new Fiskars Flower border punch to create the cardstock border. Lots of Rubons and stamping to create the interest...I am on a use my stash kick atm.

Scrapbook Savvy Word It Up

Julie's Word It Up Challenge was to take inspiration from the following quote:

"Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity." - Henry Van Dyke


So I chose to use the part of the quote "too short for those that rejoice" as I rejoice when my kids play nicely together but the times they do it is far to short...lol

So my title pretty much says it all ..."Its the little moments like these..."

then the journaling reads..."I really wish I could freeze time...its just gorgeous to watch you 2 play so nicely!"

I have used Kaiser papers and have handcut the hearts from felt and stitched them directly onto the layout to give it a "homey" feel. I have kept the embellishment to a minimum as I wanted to focus on what is happening in the photos more so. And it is a multiphoto layout which makes it busy enough anyway...

Mystical Scrapbooks DT Kit

Here is the first of my Mystical Scrapbooks DT Kit Layouts.

From the kit I have used the paper range... Black Market - Ebony, white cardstock, velvet ribbon and a Scrapfx Chipboard Dragonfly flourish.

Other items I have used are from my own stash and swaps over on Mystical.

They include a heidi swapp demask mask, prima flowers, American Craft thickers, bling flourishes, brakcet (thanks Nat), some paper flowers from the black swap (cheers girls) and some stamped images...

A couple more Scrapbook Savvy Challenges

So here are a couple of the monthly challenges over on Scrapbook Savvy...

"Counting Treasure" is Mel's Savvy Scraplift this month...

I have created a large bracket out of velvet paper and the cluster is inspired by

Emma Allens layout "forever" from the #3 round of SYTYCS...so it is a life within a lift...lol.

The photo is of Ashton counting his treasures as he used to call them and I dug it out of the archives from this lift...the origional papers I had matched where an old range of BG ...but I thought the boxer looked much better. The pinked cardstock is a remnant from one of Kells layouts that she did over at my place the other night...so that would make this a lift within a lift with in a lift...

The little red owl is handmade from Sculptey and I have used black Kaiser bling for his eyes...

"Thomas Day" is Renee C's Product/Technique Challenge on Savvy which this month was to use a page from a book.

I chose to use the inside cover of a Thomas the tankengine book that the kids had already torn and "coloured in". I have trimmed it down to fit the page design.

All the embellishments on this page are from various swaps over on Mystical Scrapbooks. Thanks to those whos items appear on my page...I lose track of who did what I am sorry.

Round 4 - So you think you can scrap

Well in the nick of time ...just thanks to my DH, Rob my layout has been loaded to the Scraptacular gallery...thanks Mel for the MSN...as I was in the middle of a Stampin Up demonstration and hadn't realised that the cutoff was 6pm...phew!!!.

So the criteria this week was:

- masking tape (or another form of decorative sticky tape)
- rub-ons
- add hand written journalling directly onto your photo
- use bright colors

Here is my round 4 entry...I actually did the masking tape thing (shock)... I stamped (polka dots) on it and ruffled it to give it texture....then stapled it. I have used very bright colours...Aqua and hot pink. I have used rubons to alter the flowers and buttons, create borders and a floral photo corner...(basic grey, kaiser, american crafts). The patterned paper is MM and finally (after 5 attempts ...practiced on transparency first) journaled on the photo...so all criteria covered. The little tag was out of a swap ...made by Dianne Lang...
